Separated parent information programme

This is a 4 hour programme created by the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service (Cafcass). The Separated Information Programme (SPIP) is designed to help separated parents, carers and other family members become clear about what their children need most from them and learn the fundamental principles of how to manage conflict.

The programme covers:

  • Working as separated parents in the best interests of your children
  • What children need
  • Parent communication
  • The emotional effect of separation and being separated parents and the options for moving forward

The programme is delivered in mixed groups of parents and separated couples do not go on the same course, although it is important that both parents go on the programme. Workshops are available during the week as well as on Saturdays.

This is what other parents have said after attending:

“I’d recommend the course to anyone who has separated from their partner, with children – even where conflict is minimal.”

“Great clear, concise information and opportunity to hear other people’s experience and ask questions to impove my children’s emotional environment in the separation process.”

“Excellent presentations. Very well prepared and made the day relaxed. A lot better than expected.”
